How much hamster safe hay do I get?

100g of Hay for your hamster :)

There is quite a lot of hay in 100g because it is so light. 100g is enough to create a decent sized forage area or to stuff quite a few toys. It's just enough hay for you and your hamster to try out and see if it's right for you before buying a larger amount.

How can I use hay with my hamster?

It can be used as forage or substrate, it is not suitable to be used as a main bedding because it doesn't support tunnels that well.

It's soft, fresh and sweet smelling and it's great for foraging in, you can lay this down in an area of your cage and watch your hamster have hours of fun foraging for any food you sprinkle over it. 

You can also use it for stuffing toys. I used to frequently stuff Flamey's toys with hay like a seagress basket or a hollow ball. You can fill with hay and sprinkle seeds throughout which helps to bulk the toy and give them a reason to keep going back. You can also do the same with a cardboard tube, stuff it with hay and sprinkle seeds throughout. It also mixes well with other substrates like coco chips.

Is the hay hamster safe?

The hay comes from a farm that specifically grows their hay for animals. They use state of the art dust extraction and drying facilities so the hay is really fresh and dust free. 

The hay has been bagged and then frozen at -20°c for 48+ hours, so you can use it straight out of the bag with confidence, no need for freezing before use.
