Are these substrates safe for my hamster?
Hay, Soil, Beech chips, and Aspen have all been bagged and frozen at a temperature of -20°c for 48+ hours so they're safe to use right out of the bag with no extra freezing.
The sand and coco chips have been baked in the oven at a high temperature for over 1.5 hours and then bagged immediately on cooling, so they are also safe to use from the bag with no extra baking or freezing needed.
Why should I buy a multipack of substrates for my hamster?
This is a great bundle of substrates that you can use to see what your hamster likes and doesn't like. I started selling these because when I wanted to explore different substrates and textures with Flamey there were no multi-packs, you had to buy a lot of everything. So with this bundle I hope you can pick it up and test these things out with your own hamster before you decide to buy in bulk!
What can I use these hamster safe substrates for?
The hay is pure feeding hay that contains a small amount of hamster safe meadow flowers, it's great for stuffing toys and creating forage areas. The sand is hamster safe and is used for grooming, most hamsters like to roll around in it, some use it as a toilet! The soil is great for promoting digging and playing, it's also really cooling in the summer. The beech chips are fine grade and they're great for promoting digging and foraging. The aspen is soft and good for promoting digging and foraging. Most hamster professionals recommend not using aspen as the main bedding.
I will also include PDF guides for any substrates you buy so that you get the most out of them.
Are these substrates hamster safe?
Yes. I only sell substrates that I use myself with Flamey. The hay, aspen, beech chips, soil and coco chips have all been frozen at -20 for 48+ hours. The sand is hand baked and sieved in small batches at a temperature of 140 for 1.5+ hours.
I have used all of these substrates with Flamey for months and he has a selection of them in his cage all the time. He loves exploring different textures and we've found over time, that he likes to use each one in a specific way. We hope your hamster enjoys their substrates too!
