Soft hamster sand

This hamster safe sand is non dusty, has no added calcium and is made of quartz. There are no added dyes or chemicals and it's ready to use out of the bag.

How much hamster safe sand will I get?

There is 500g in a standard bag. 500g is enough for a decent sized substrate bowl. The heart bowl pictured is the small sized heart bowl from Tesco. Please note the bowl is not included in the purchase.

What is hamster sand good for?

•  Promotes hygiene for hamsters (keeps their fur clean)
• Encourages digging behaviours
• Holds temperature well
• Can be used as litter (clumps well)

Flamey wouldn't be without his sand. He's used this ever since I've had him. He loves to roll around in the sand and it keeps his fur soft and clean. He also loves to eat in his sand, so I'll often find him just sat in there munching whatever snacks he's found around his cage.

Is this sand hamster safe?

Yes. I personally hand bake the sand myself at a high temperature in small batches to ensure that it is dry and clean. I then hand sieve each batch to remove any coarse lumps. What's left is beautifully soft and dry fine sand which is stored in sealed containers until it's bagged up for you and your hamster. Because it's been baked at a high temperature for over an hour it's safe to use out of the bag without the need for baking or freezing. 

The sand does not contain any calcium, dyes, chemicals or additives.
