All the nutrition. None of the wriggly-looking bits.
Some people have a genuine phobia of worms and larvae, and picking through your hamster’s dinner with your eyes half-closed isn’t anyone’s idea of fun.
This complete Syrian hamster food contains no mealworms or calciworms. Instead, it uses freeze-dried chicken, shrimp, seeds and plant ingredients to provide a varied balance of protein, fat and fibre.
Your hamster still gets a nutritionally balanced, enriching food mix. You get to serve it without having to touch anything worm-shaped.
This Syrian hamster food is made to order
This is one of our more specialist food mixes, so rather than keeping large quantities sitting on the shelf, it is freshly hand-mixed after you place your order.
Please allow up to 5 working days for your order to be dispatched. It will often be ready sooner, but during busy periods we may prepare several made-to-order foods together on a dedicated production day.
If you order other products at the same time, your complete order will be held and dispatched together once the food is ready.
Why is this food good for Syrian hamsters?
Syrian hamsters are omnivores and need a varied diet containing suitable sources of both plant and animal protein.
In this mix, freeze-dried chicken and Gammarus shrimp provide animal protein without the mealworms and calciworms found in many hamster foods.
Additional protein comes from ingredients including hemp, canary seed, milk thistle and flax, supported by a varied base of grains, vegetables, seeds, leaves and herbs.
The result is a complete food with plenty of variety, texture and scent, formulated specifically for Syrian hamsters without relying on worm-shaped ingredients.
And as always, I’ve left out ingredients I personally don’t feel comfortable feeding, including soya and raw legumes.
Food to stimulate your hamster
Hamsters are natural foragers, and searching through a varied food mix is an important form of enrichment.
Different grains, seeds, vegetables, herbs and flowers provide a mixture of sizes, shapes, smells and textures for your hamster to investigate and collect.
Tiny amounts of richer seeds, including sunflower and pumpkin, are scattered throughout the mix to provide exciting finds without allowing them to dominate the formulation.
Scatter feeding can make dinner last longer and encourage natural foraging behaviour.
Is the food mix safe for Syrian hamsters?
Yes. Every ingredient has been carefully researched and selected specifically for Syrian hamsters.
This mix contains no mealworms or calciworms. It does contain Gammarus shrimp, so it is not suitable for anyone who wants to avoid all visible animal ingredients.
All food is pre-frozen and packed into sealed pouches as a precaution against pests. If you accidentally leave the pouch open or store it near non-frozen grains, simply reseal and freeze for 48 hours before use.
