Hamster-Safe Popcorn and Popping Corn

Popcorn can be a lovely occasional hamster treat, but the popcorn sold for humans often contains oil, butter, salt, sugar or flavourings that hamsters don’t need.

This product gives you two options: plain popcorn that’s ready to offer, or popping corn kernels to prepare yourself.

Choose your popcorn

Ready-Popped Corn – 7g
Plain popcorn air popped without oil, butter, salt, sugar or seasoning. It’s ready to offer as an occasional treat.

Popping Corn – 100g
Unpopped kernels for you to prepare at home. These kernels must not be fed directly to your hamster.

How do I prepare the popping corn?

Place a small quantity of kernels in a dry saucepan with a secure lid. Heat gently, shaking the pan regularly, until the popping slows or stops.

Do not add oil, butter, salt, sugar, sweeteners or seasoning.

Allow the popcorn to cool completely and remove any kernels that haven’t popped before giving it to your hamster.

How much can my hamster have?

Popcorn is best offered as an occasional treat rather than a regular part of the diet. One small piece is plenty for a dwarf or Roborovski hamster, while a Syrian hamster can enjoy one or two pieces.

Popcorn can also be hidden around the enclosure or wrapped in plain paper to create a simple boredom breaker.
