Balanced nutrition for busy little burrowers.
This is a varied, muesli-style food mix formulated specifically for gerbils, handmade in small, weighted batches to provide consistent nutrition without taking all the joy out of dinner.
Gerbils naturally eat a varied diet containing grains, grass seeds, plants, vegetables and occasional animal protein. This mix brings those different food groups together while keeping the overall fat level carefully balanced.
Because gerbils deserve more than a bowl full of beige pellets.
This gerbil food is made to order
This is one of our more specialist food mixes, so rather than keeping large quantities sitting on the shelf, it is freshly hand-mixed after you place your order.
Please allow up to 5 working days for your order to be dispatched. It will often be ready sooner, but during busy periods we may prepare several made-to-order foods together on a dedicated production day.
If you order other products at the same time, your complete order will be held and dispatched together once the food is ready.
Why is this food good for gerbils?
Gerbils need a varied diet that provides energy and protein without relying too heavily on rich, fatty ingredients.
This mix contains a broad base of grains, including millet, oats, barley, buckwheat, amaranth, rye and spelt. No single staple dominates the food, giving your gerbil plenty of variety while maintaining a balanced overall formulation.
Grass seeds, including red fescue, Kentucky bluegrass and Pagima green seed, reflect the kinds of small seeds and plant materials gerbils are naturally adapted to forage for.
Vegetables and leaves such as broccoli, courgette, pumpkin, carrot, dandelion and plantain add different textures and sources of fibre.
Gerbils are omnivores, so this mix also contains chicken, shrimp and a small amount of mealworm. These provide animal protein while the formulation as a whole remains relatively low in fat.
Food to stimulate your gerbil
Gerbils are enthusiastic foragers, diggers and food collectors, and their food should give them opportunities to express those natural behaviours.
The varied sizes, shapes, smells and textures within this mix encourage your gerbil to search, investigate and choose different foods as they forage.
Scatter feeding is recommended. It allows your gerbil to spend time finding and collecting their food rather than finishing dinner from a bowl in a few minutes.
Is the food mix safe for gerbils?
Yes. Every ingredient has been carefully researched and selected with gerbil nutrition and natural feeding behaviour in mind.
All food is pre-frozen and packed into sealed pouches as a precaution against pests. If you accidentally leave the pouch open or store it near non-frozen grains, simply reseal and freeze for 48 hours before use.

Feeding Guidelines
Feed approximately 1 teaspoon or 2–5g per gerbil each day. Adjust the amount according to your gerbil’s size, activity level and body condition.
Scatter feeding is recommended to encourage natural foraging behaviour.
Small food stores are normal. Check them regularly and only remove food that has become damp, soiled or spoiled.
For one gerbil:
150g = approx. 4–10 weeks
300g = approx. 8–21 weeks
500g = approx. 14–35 weeks
1kg = approx. 28–71 weeks
Food will be used twice as quickly when feeding two gerbils.
Please don’t over-buy. Shelf life is 9 months, but fresh is always best.
