This Forest & Flower Forage Mix has been refined over months to create the perfect foraging experience for hamsters. Designed to mimic the natural scents and textures of a British meadow, this mix encourages your hamster’s natural instincts to dig, forage, and explore. It smells amazing, offers a variety of textures, and the crunchy topper sprinkled on top will keep your hamster entertained in their forage for ages.

How much forage do I get?

There’s plenty of forage to go around! Each bag contains 150g of forage.

Your forage also comes with a crunchy snack topper, weighing between 25-30g, which you can sprinkle on top for added variety. It’s a wonderful way to enrich your hamster’s environment, keeping them engaged and entertained.

Everything is carefully packed in a zip seal bag for freshness and convenience making it easy to store if you're only using a bit at a time, and less messy than boxes.

This forage mix has been carefully selected to provide a natural, meadow-like experience with a variety of textures and scents. It contains:

Your choice of crunchy topper

To make this mix even more customisable, you can choose from three different toppers to suit your hamster’s tastes:

🥦 Veg Topper – Barley, Carrot, Pumpkin, Broccoli, Courgette, Pea Flakes
💪 Protein Topper – Mealworms, Rapeseed, Sunflower Seeds, Walnuts, Oats

The weight of the topper is separate from the forage mix, so you’re still getting a full 150g of forage!

I keep the topper separate so you have full control over what and how much your hamster is eating.

Is this forage hamster safe?

Yes! Every ingredient has been carefully researched to ensure 100% hamster safety. This forage was originally designed for my own hamster, Flamey, and has since been tested and loved by many others.

For extra peace of mind, every part of the forage and topper has been frozen at -20°C for 48+ hours before packaging. This means you can use it straight from the box with confidence—no need to freeze it yourself before offering it to your hamster.

How do I use forage with my hamster?

You can use forage in a few different ways. Some hamster owners like to put it in a box and let the hamster forage during out of cage time. Some put it in a small bowl and keep it topped up, others put it directly into the cage. Simply sprinkle the topper on (or any other dried food) and your hamster will enjoy foraging around in the new scents and textures looking for the sprinkled treats.

Is the forage safe for my hamster to eat?

The forage is safe for your hamster to nibble on. I find that most hamsters don't tend to eat the forage, but they do like a nibble!
