Forest and flower forage with treat topper

Turn a corner of your hamster's enclosure into their own miniature forest floor!

Forest & Flower Forage has been designed to create a rich, natural foraging experience using hamster-safe leaves, flowers, roots and other interesting textures. Scatter it around the enclosure or create a dedicated forage area, add a little of your chosen treat topper, and let your hamster sniff, dig and forage their way through it.

I've recently redesigned the mix with more robust, fibrous leaves that hold their structure better rather than crumbling into dust. That means I've also been able to remove the hay completely, leaving a lovely leafy forage that smells amazing and gives your hamster plenty to investigate.

What's in this hamster safe forage?

Each bag contains 150g of forage, made with:

🌼 Marigold heads  
🌱 Dandelion roots  
🥜 Monkey nuts in their shells

The different leaves, flowers, roots and nuts provide a mixture of scents and textures to encourage natural sniffing, digging and foraging behaviours.

Nut allergy in the household? No problem. The monkey nuts and dandelion roots can be removed or replaced on request. Just leave me a note when ordering and I'll make your forage without them.

Your choice of treat topper

Your forage also comes with a separately packed mini portion of one of our existing Hamster Helper treat mixes.

Keeping it separate means you can decide how much to scatter at a time, while giving your hamster something exciting to hunt for amongst all those leaves and flowers.

The topper is packed separately from your 150g of forage, so you're still getting the full amount of Forest & Flower Forage.

Is this forage hamster safe?

Yes! Every ingredient has been carefully researched to ensure 100% hamster safety. This forage was originally designed for my own hamster, Flamey, and has since been tested and loved by many others.

Every part of the forage and treat topper is frozen at -20°C for at least 48 hours before packaging, so there's no need to freeze it yourself when it arrives.

Open it, add it to your hamster's enclosure and let the important hamstery business commence.

How do I use forage with my hamster?

There's no single right way to use it!

You can create a dedicated forage area in your hamster's enclosure, add some to a digging or exploration box, sprinkle it across part of their substrate, or offer it during out-of-enclosure time.

Sprinkle a little of the treat topper through the forage and your hamster gets to use their incredible sense of smell to search through the different leaves, flowers and textures to find the good stuff.

You can refresh or top up the forage as needed rather than replacing it every time your hamster has explored it.

Is the forage safe for my hamster to eat?

Yes. Every botanical in the mix has been selected to be hamster-safe, so it's absolutely fine if your hamster decides to have a nibble.

Many hamsters won't actually eat much of the leafy forage itself, and that's okay! Eating it isn't really the point. The different scents and textures make the environment more interesting and encourage natural exploratory and foraging behaviours.

The treats hidden amongst it are just a little extra motivation to get snuffling.
