A taster pack of popular hamster safe bugs for trying bugs with your hamster.

What's in the bug buffet?

  • 10g of dried crickets
  • 10g of dried mealworms
  • 10g of dried silkworm pupae
  • 10g of dried gammarus shrimp
  • 10g of dried calci worms (black soldier fly larvae)

They're all packed separately for easy testing.

You can choose to have all five, or just pick three that you want to try with your hamster.

Why try the hamster bug buffet?

Some hamsters have strong preferences when it comes to bugs. This taster pack lets you try four different types without committing to a big bag. If your hamster turns their nose up at one, you’ve still got three other types to try (and birds love the leftovers if your hamster’s picky).

This is a fab choice for new hamster owners or anyone trying to expand their hamster’s treat rotation.

How can I use the bug buffet with my hamster?

Use them like any treat, for hand-feeding, scatter feeding, or popping into toys. You can rotate between them to keep things interesting and reduce the chance of boredom. Bugs aren’t just nutritious, they’re a fun part of your hamster’s foraging and sensory experience.

Weren’t for my hammy sadly he didn’t try them. They are neatly packaged and helpful to have a selection to see what if any your hamster would like

Thank you for the honest feedback Melissa I’m glad the taster pack at least gave you the chance to test them out without committing to a big bag. Hopefully he’ll find a new favourite snack soon

Bugs!

I gave my hamster the silkworm larvae which he ate.
I tried him with the cricket yesterday but he hasn't touched it.
Will see tonight if it's gone, if not, I'm sure the birds will enjoy them.

Hi Shazza , thank you so much for sharing! I’m glad your hamster enjoyed the silkworm larvae. Sorry to hear about the crickets. Fingers crossed he does give them a shot, and I love that nothing goes to waste if the birds enjoy them!

Fantastic way to try bugs

My hamsters can be really fussy when it comes to insect treats, so this was a perfect way for me to try different types of bugs, without buying a large amount of each type. So far, the little shrimps are proving popular!

I’m so happy you enjoyed this idea! 😊 It’s exactly why I made it, to avoid those big bags of bugs that just sit there when the hamster says “nope” 😂 Fingers crossed the shrimps keep winning!
